Honored as the 2025 Florida Superintendent of the Year at FLDOE Ceremony and FSU On-Field Event
VERO BEACH, FL (September 15, 2025) - The School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) proudly celebrates Dr. David K. Moore, who was selected as the 2025 Florida Superintendent of the Year in December 2024, distinguishing him among Florida’s 67 superintendents. Also, a 2025 National Superintendent of the Year Finalist, Dr. Moore’s visionary leadership has driven academic excellence, strengthened community partnerships, and elevated student success across the MySDIRC.
Dr. Moore will be recognized at two major events that honor his contributions to education:
Florida Department of Education Distinguished Educator Ceremony

Location: Turlington Building Florida Department of Education, Tallahassee, FL
This ceremony will honor the 2025 Florida Superintendent of the Year alongside the 2025 Florida Principal of the Year, 2025 Florida Assistant Principal of the Year, 2025 Florida School-Related Employee of the Year, and the 2026 Florida Teacher of the Year.
Project ElevatED On-Field Recognition at Florida State University
Date: Saturday, September 20, 2025
Location: Florida State University vs. Kent State football game, Tallahassee, FL
Florida’s top educators, including Dr. Moore, will be celebrated on the field. Award recipients will enjoy the game from the President’s Box and have the opportunity to meet FSU President Richard McCullough and First Lady Jai Vartikar. In the official invitation, FSU stated, “You are a paragon of your profession, and it would be our great privilege to recognize your impact on the field of education in front of thousands of fans.”
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized in these two distinct ways,” said Dr. Moore. “These acknowledgments reflect the tireless efforts of our educators, staff, students, and community partners.
